"Funding Your Best Ideas: On the Art of Writing Grant Proposals"
Have a great idea for a grant but don't know where to start? Want to turn your ideas into money? This workshop is designed to assist grant seekers in all setting, such as administrators, faculty, counselors, investigators, development officers, and local representatives in educational, business, nonprofit, and community organizations in developing a realistic strategy for grant writing proposals. The primary goal is to enhance your ability to attract external funding (Federal, state, foundation, and corporate sponsors). The single best way to realize this goal is to participate in actual grant proposal writing exercises. Therefore, the workshop will feature hands-on activities, simulations, and variety of class participation exercises. Topics include types of grants, identifying sources of funding, statement of need, project description, budget preparation, contacting with funding agencies, project management, and effective proposal development strategies.
Participants in this workshop will assess sponsors' guidelines and requirements, review effective proposal writing techniques, discuss reasons for rejecting proposals, analyze strategies for success, explore the components of proposal narratives and budgets, and apply these skills through a critique of sample proposals. The workshop participants will also learn how to write a winning abstract that will grab readers' attention.

About the Presenter:
Dr. Khosrowshahi is an instructor of political science and a Fulbright Scholar at Tyler Junior College. He is recipient of numerous grants such as Fulbright grant and Funds for Improvement of Post Secondary Education from U.S. Department of Education, Middle East Institute, Middle East Policy Council, Options Program, Texas Council for the Humanities, and United States Institute of Peace to name only a few.
He is a frequent speaker for variety of educational, social, and religious groups. Dr. Khosrowshahi has conducted research in Japan, Mexico, Turkey, Iran and Thailand. He has initiated a number of new projects through his grants to establish outreach programs, speaker's bureau, International Day activities and programs.
